Hotel Restaurant Clemens-August

Acting sustainably – taking responsibility

Sustainability

The guiding principle of our daily work

The Hotel Restaurant Clemens-August is located in the heart of the Davert, the largest contiguous forest area in the Münsterland. Pure nature that invites you to hike and enjoy. The Davert is characterized by old gnarled oaks, deciduous forests over 100 years old and partly impenetrable undergrowth and swamp forests that merge into the neighboring Venner Moor. Nature, our home, is close to our hearts. That is why sustainability is a personal concern in our daily work.

Staff

  • Our employees are regularly trained in the careful use of energy and resources. This includes conscientious use of water and electricity, cleaning agents and waste separation.

  • Our employees are trained to pay attention to correct room temperatures (room climate) so that no unnecessary energy is wasted in heating.

  • We avoid leftovers, through prudent planning of the use of goods.

  • We recycle recyclable materials.

  • We process fresh, regional food.

  • Creating management structures and setting clear decision-making criteria with regard to repairs and possible new acquisitions in the context of sustainability and ensuring that these are adhered to is our corporate responsibility.

Mobility

  • We avoid emissions wherever possible.

  • In brochures and on the Internet, there are instructions on how to travel by Deutsche Bahn for a climate-neutral arrival if possible, and we offer a shuttle service from Davensberg station.

Energy

  • All rooms have sufficient daylight so that less energy is needed for lighting.

  • We rely on energy production with high efficiency of electrical energy and heat through the use of a combined heat and power plant (CHP).

  • The purchase of electricity is based on green electricity.

  • Large parts of the electronic devices are equipped with energy saving functions.

  • State-of-the-art lighting technology is in use.

Products

  • We do not use cleaning agents that are harmful to the environment.

  • We recycle recyclable products.

  • We consciously plan our use of goods.

  • We do not use unnecessary printouts.

Food

  • We buy fair trade coffee and tea.

  • We use reusable packaging as much as possible.

  • We use free-range eggs.

  • By using regional products we avoid unnecessary CO2 pollution during delivery.

  • We do not use food from endangered stocks.

Water

  • We have water-saving devices in all sanitary facilities.

  • In the hotel rooms there are indications about ways to save water and resources.

Waste

  • As far as possible, we use garbage bags more than once.

  • Recyclability of resources is a criterion at the time of purchase.

  • We separate raw materials from residual waste and biological waste.

What does this mean in our practical work?

We are committed to sustainable development. Health, nature, the reduction of Co2 emissions, innovation, local development, jobs and social dialogue - this is our contribution to our future:

Health

  • Balanced meals are offered in the restaurant.

  • Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used for room cleaning.

Nature

  • Towels are reused by our guests.

  • We use flow restrictors in sanitary facilities to reduce and save water

  • We save water in the laundry every time we wash to reduce energy consumption.

  • Batteries and rechargeable batteries are recycled with the help of the recyclables mobile.

  • Paper and cardboard are recycled thanks to waste separation in our facility.

  • Glass is recycled thanks to the waste separation in our house.

  • We recycle food waste to generate energy (re-food).

CO2 emissions

  • In the public areas we use LED lighting and lamps.

  • In the rooms, there are LED lamps and a central light switch in the rooms for more comfort and energy efficiency.

  • We use ambient heat to optimize heating.

Innovation

  • We use sustainably produced printer paper in the hotel.

Local environment

  • We focus on regional suppliers and products.

  • Endangered species will never appear on our restaurant's menus.
